Hourpatch

A Quick Tour of HourPatch

Tracking your work hours

HourPatch uses a familiar calendar interface for time tracking. Double-click to create a block of time, then drag the edges to adjust it. Select the project the block is for, and when you've finished that time, mark it as "complete".

Generating invoices based on your hourly rate(s)

Quickly generate an invoice for your unbilled hours on a project, with a single click. HourPatch will gather all the time you've completed, multiply it by your hourly rate, and give you a nicely-formatted PDF to download and send to your clients.

Integrating with your calendar software

HourPatch gives you a calendar you can subscribe to in iCal, Google Calendar, or any other program that supports the iCalendar format, so you can integrate your work and personal schedules. Schedule organization is key to not letting your work schedule take over your life.

Keeping notes of what you did

For each block of time, use the "Notes" section to plan what you're going to do, or to track what you did, after the fact. These notes can later be brought into your invoices, as well.

Knowing your availability, both this week and months in the future

A result of planning out your hours for all of your current projects is that you can quickly see when you have free spots in your schedule. Also, HourPatch will calculate and show your expected finish date for each of your projects.

Setting aside enough time for each project

For each project you enter in HourPatch, you also enter an estimate of how many hours that project will take to complete. Once that's done, HourPatch keeps track of how many hours you've planned and completed for each project, and tells you how many hours you still need to plan, so you know when you've got everything planned and under control.
